Your AI Search Problem Has a Name
Start with the problem you can see.
Most AI search programmes stall at the same point. Someone notices something wrong, a competitor appearing in ChatGPT answers where your brand should be, organic traffic falling while rankings hold, an AI response that describes your product incorrectly, and they cannot tell whether it is a technical problem, a content problem, or a signal problem. It is usually all three, weighted differently depending on which symptom surfaced first.
This section maps the most common AI search problems to the work that resolves them. If you would rather start from your role, Solutions covers that.
WHY PROBLEMS FIRST
Why problems first
AI search problems do not announce themselves cleanly. They arrive as anomalies in metrics that were designed for a different channel: organic traffic dips that do not match ranking changes, brand mentions that appear in AI answers but point to outdated information, competitors cited for queries where your content is technically stronger.
The standard diagnostic for these anomalies is to run the same buyer questions through ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Mode, and Gemini and record what comes back. That test takes under thirty minutes and tells you which platforms are citing competitors in your place, which sources those platforms are drawing from, and whether your brand appears at all. It does not tell you why, and it does not tell you what to fix first. That requires a structured audit.
AI search problems arrive as anomalies in metrics designed for a different channel. This section maps the most common symptoms to their root causes and the work that resolves them. Each scenario page includes a self-diagnostic you can run in under thirty minutes, an explanation of what that test can and cannot establish, and explicit conditions under which an external engagement makes sense.

Competitor Showing Up in ChatGPT
You searched your category in ChatGPT. Your competitor appeared. You did not. This page explains why that happens, what you can check yourself in thirty minutes, and what fixing it actually requires.

What these pages are not
They are not a substitute for measurement. A manual spot-check across four AI platforms gives you a directional read, not a baseline. Knowing that a competitor appears in ChatGPT three times out of five manual prompts tells you something is wrong. It does not tell you the citation rate at scale, which sources are driving that competitor's presence, or how your brand compares across Perplexity and Google AI Mode on the same queries. That data requires tooling.
If you want the measurement baseline before reading further, the AI Search Assessment establishes it.
SYMPTOM VERSUS ROLE
Why the separation from Solutions matters
The Solutions section routes by role: marketing leaders, founders, SEO teams. Each role has a different relationship to the problem and a different set of questions about budget, mandate, and measurement.
Start with the problem you can observe, not the tactic you think you need. A competitor appearing in ChatGPT, incorrect AI information about your company, falling traffic despite stable rankings, and an unanswerable ROI question each require a different investigation. If you would rather start with your organizational role, use the solutions pages instead.
This section routes by symptom. The same symptom can affect any role. A founder and a marketing leader can both notice that a competitor is appearing in ChatGPT. The symptom is the same. The context in which they need to understand it is different. Start here if the symptom is what brought you to this page. Start at Solutions if the mandate and the budget question is what you need to resolve.
A manual check finds the symptom. A baseline finds the cause.
An AI Search Assessment establishes where your brand currently appears in AI-generated answers, which competitors appear instead, and which sources those platforms are drawing from, across a defined query set rather than a handful of manual prompts.
